MLB Announces Yankees' Postseason Entry Confirmed

In the US Major League Baseball (MLB), the Milwaukee Brewers were the first to confirm their division championship this season.

Milwaukee, first place in the National League Central Division, confirmed its division championship regardless of the results of the remaining games after the Chicago Cubs lost 3-5 to the Oakland Athletics ahead of the game against the Philadelphia Phillies held at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA on the 19th (Korean time).

If Milwaukee, which had 87 wins and 64 losses as of the previous day, loses all of its remaining 11 games and the Cubs (77 wins and 75 losses), who are in second place in the division, win all of their remaining 10 games, the series will be tied.

But Milwaukee, which has an 8-5 record in season head-to-head matches, will still be in first place in the division even if the worst happens.

Milwaukee's legendary manager Craig Counsell, who led the team until last year, moved to the rival Cubs this season, and the team's strength was greatly weakened by major and minor injuries to its starting players, 커뮤니티 but it overturned expectations and took first place in the division.

Milwaukee, which has won the division for the third time in the past four years, including two consecutive division titles, has established itself as the Central Division's top team.

Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy, who watched the Cubs' loss on TV before the game that day, said, "You never know what your limits are, but (the team members) came together and competed as best they could, and that was the driving force behind our division championship."

The New York Yankees also secured an American League postseason spot with a 2-1 win over the Seattle Mariners, becoming the second team after Milwaukee to secure a spot in the fall baseball league.

The Yankees, who have won 27 World Series, the most in MLB, have secured at least the third-place wild card spot in the league, which means they will be the last team to catch the postseason, regardless of their remaining games.

The Yankees are in first place in the American League East with 89 wins and 63 losses and are looking to win the division title.

The MLB postseason features six teams per league, including the three division champions and the three teams with the next highest winning percentages (wild cards).

Among the six teams, the team with the highest winning percentage will be awarded the 1st seed, and the team with the second highest winning percentage among the division champions will be awarded the 2nd seed, advancing directly to the Division Series (best-of-five series).

Among the division champions, the 3rd seed with the lowest winning percentage, the 6th seed (the 3rd wild card), and the 4th and 5th seed (the 1st and 2nd wild card) play a best-of-3 wild card series at the home of the higher seed to determine which team advances to the Division Series.

The Division Series winners play in the League Championship Series (best-of-seven series), and the winners of that series face off in the World Series (best-of-seven series) to determine who will be the champion of the year.
